Liliane Barnard

CEO & Portfolio Manager BCom

Liliane is the CEO of the Group and portfolio manager.

Liliane has over 30 years’ experience in listed property and investment management. Liliane previously headed up asset management at Old Mutual Properties (Pty) Ltd and was also head of listed property and a retail investment analyst at Old Mutual Asset Managers (now OMIGSA) for 15 years. Liliane brings both local and international insight to the Metope Group. She spent 11 years independently managing institutional pension fund money. Liliane previously served as independent non-executive director of JSE listed property companies Emira, Redefine and ex-Pangbourne Properties Ltd.

Curwin Rittles, CA(SA)

Analyst BCom (Hon) Accounting

Curwin is an investment analyst at Metope, responsible for local and global real estate research.

Curwin has over a decade of experience in the listed property industry. He commenced his career as an investment analyst at Catalyst Fund Managers, covering South African, UK, and European real estate stocks. Subsequently, he joined EPP NV, a JSE-listed Polish-focused real estate company, where he led the investor relations department. Following this role, he moved to MDC2, focusing on research and strategy.

Aimee Glisson

COO, Performance & Risk Analyst BBusSc (Hons), CFA

Aimee is Metope’s head of operations, and is responsible for client reporting, portfolio performance and risk analysis, and provides research assistance to the investment team.

Aimee worked at Kagiso Asset Management as an equity research analyst before joining Metope in 2013 where she covered industrial stocks. She earned her CFA designation in 2015 and has completed the CT1 course in financial maths from the Actuarial Society in the UK.

Zovuyo Magxala

Financial Accountant BCom

Zovuyo is the Financial Accountant of Metope. She is responsible for the accounting, financial reporting and compliance of the company, as well as client reporting.

Prior to joining Metope in 2019, Zovuyo worked for SNG Grant Thornton Inc. where she completed her articles as a Trainee Accountant in the areas of Accounting, Auditing and Taxation.

Zovuyo has completed her Level 1 Exam in the Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement (CIPM) Program.

Dr Gemma John

Impact Manager PhD Social Anthropology

Gemma is responsible for developing impact investments at Metope along with its measurement, management and reporting. Before joining Metope in 2022, Gemma worked in the U.K. and Europe, advising asset management and development teams on sustainability within the built environment in relation to social value. She earned her PhD in Social Anthropology in 2009, and is Adjunct Faculty at University of Cambridge’s Institute for Sustainable Leadership.

Gemma is an expert in socio-economic development, with over 10 years of experience advising corporates on place-based impact. An applied anthropologist, she began her career in planning and architecture in 2014 with AECOM and Foster + Partners in London. Since establishing Human City in 2017, she has gained considerable programme delivery experience in the sectors of affordable housing, education and retail. Gemma has led climate change research for the African Climate Foundation. As a respected thought-leader in infrastructure and real estate, she has a deep understanding of the strategic opportunities that lie at the intersection of the social and environmental dimensions of impact.

 

Vera von Lieres

Marketing & Business Development Consultant Bachelor of Arts (BA)

Vera manages Metope’s communications, marketing and business development functions.

She has previously worked as a financial journalist for Business Day, I-Net Bridge, Reuters news agency and Business Report, and as a corporate communications consultant. Prior to joining Metope, she worked for seven years as an investment writer/editor and media and communications strategist at Kagiso Asset Management.
